The FFP2 mask – the "smart" mask
This type of mask is known as a "smart" mask, because it protects both the wearer and people around the wearer.
Alessandro Gasbarrini, Director of Oncologic and Degenerative Spine Surgery at the Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute in Bologna, explains the difference between the different types of masks and puts them in three simple but effective categories: altruistic, selfish and smart.
Of course, this has nothing to do with healthcare staff, but helps us understand how different types of masks work and how effective they are.
